Team TpT is excited to share that Dr. Darienne Hudson has joined our Board of Directors. Dr. Hudson is an acclaimed education leader and business executive who currently serves as the President and CEO of the United Way of Southeastern Michigan following a long career in public education.

“I believe education is transformational and a great equalizer, and during this time of rapid and unrelenting change, that’s never been more true,” said Dr. Hudson. “TpT has long been the trusted resource educators turn to, to learn from each other and meet students’ ever-evolving needs. As new modes of teaching emerge, the opportunity TpT has to empower educators has never been greater. I’m honored to be joining the Board at such a pivotal time.”

Get to Know Dr. Darienne Hudson

A lifelong educator who has dedicated her career to ensuring equity for all and improving achievement outcomes, Dr. Hudson is currently President and CEO of United Way for Southeastern Michigan, where she’s developed and initiated numerous programs to improve the lives of children and families in the community. Before joining United Way in July 2018, she spent four years as superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), the largest school district in Wisconsin. Prior to being named superintendent, Dr. Hudson was MPS’ first Chief Innovation Officer where she successfully narrowed the achievement gap in MPS’ Commitment Schools, schools with the greatest need for improvement.

Before her tenure in Milwaukee, Dr. Hudson served as Deputy Chief of Empowerment Schools for the School District of Philadelphia. She was also the Coordinator of Strategic Management and Accountability, as well as Special Assistant to the Superintendent in Clayton County Public Schools in Georgia. Dr. Hudson holds a doctorate from Harvard University in Urban Superintendency, a master’s degree in education from Harvard University, and a master’s degree in curriculum development from the University of Michigan. 

In addition to serving on TpT’s board, Dr. Hudson serves on the steering committee for Launch Michigan, the Wayne County Afterschool Partnership, and is on the Mayor’s Workforce Investment Board. She also serves on the board of Detroit Children’s Fund, is a trustee for Educational Testing Services, and was elected to the Board of Overseers for Harvard University in 2017. She was named a 2019 DBusiness Powered by Women Honoree. In 2020, Dr. Hudson joined the Board of Directors at the Detroit Public Schools Foundation. Most recently, Dr. Hudson became a member of the International Women’s Forum Michigan Chapter.

Dr. Hudson’s appointment comes at an exciting time in our company journey at TpT and we’re delighted to welcome her to the Board of Directors. Today, TpT serves 7.5 million educators and offers more than 5 million teacher-created instructional resources.
