Teacher Appreciation Week 2020 is just around the corner and this year, more than anything, Team TpT hopes you and your loved ones are safe and well.
We know this year’s celebrations will look a bit different. Rather than being in-person with your students, there may be video get-togethers, emails, or “thank you” Tik Tok videos. Even while physically apart, administrators, teachers, and students are adapting, persevering, and finding ways to come together.
This year’s celebration is also different for another reason. Far and wide, parents, students, and communities have already been expressing their appreciation for teachers in the wake of school closures. From Ellen Degeneres to Shonda Rhimes, more and more people are showing how they cherish teachers. It’s been heartening to see communities worldwide recognize how hard teachers work to provide the best for their students.
TpT wants to shine a light on this widespread teacher appreciation. That’s why we’re launching our #ThankATeacherChallenge* today and giving $100,000 to the educators who are going above and beyond.
As a teacher, how have you felt appreciation since schools have closed? How have you thanked your colleagues or other teachers in your life? From students and parents who are getting creative at sharing their thanks and the teachers waking up to signs in their yard, to the administrator who sent care packages to their teaching staff and the messages of encouragement, teachers are sending back to their students. We want to hear from you and shine a light on all the unique, thoughtful, and touching ways teachers have given or received thanks while spending these past weeks at home.
This is just the beginning of our Teacher Appreciation Week celebration, so stay tuned for more to come. In the meantime, we can’t wait to see all the ways teachers are being appreciated in the #ThankATeacherChallenge.
