Learning about rocks can be fun!
We started our rock exploration with learning about the three types of rocks.
Students wrote in more detail about each of the types of rock after a lot of research.
Creating a rock anchor chart helped us “anchor” our learning.
One of our essential questions: What is a rock?
Another essential question: Why do we need rocks?
We learned that the study of rocks is called Petrology and that we could be petrologists!
We explored different types of rocks using a rock kit…
The best part? Connecting our learning to hands-on fun and exploration!
We even learned that chalk is a rock and did some chalk exploration.
No rock unit would be complete without reading our favorite informational texts!
My students “rocked” this unit! You can find out more {HERE} on TpT.
