Many folks are wrapping up the school year and getting ready for their summer. So we thought it would be fun to lighten things up a bit! We asked you to share photos of your desk on Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #CheckOutMyDesk. Boy, did we love seeing how differently everyone works, and how each desk is such a great reflection of the amazing lesson planning, paper grading, and TpTing you do!
Many of you have said your classrooms and desks are like a second home, which is sometimes how we feel about our office! It’s important to create a space that makes you feel comfortable, inspired, and motivated. We’ve found that something as simple as dedicating one day a week (or even a couple hours) to straightening up can make all the difference. A few of us also have a physical inbox on our desks for important papers that require more immediate attention (sometimes it’s faster than email)! This prevents the important papers from getting lost in the mix and ensures they’re seen in a timely manner.
Another tip we’ve found useful is to always keep a notepad front and center for quick thoughts, reminders, or random to-do’s that might pop up. Jot down anything you don’t want to forget about but don’t have time to do at the moment — this prevents small papers and post-it notes from flying around that you may not see until weeks later. We also might suggest having something nearby that motivates you — a photo of your family or your students, or a print-out of your favorite quote.
Above is a photo of my desk at the TpT office. I have a “We Love TpT” photo from a group of TpT’ers, a hashtag (I love hashtags), a candle that smells amazing and reminds me of the beach even when not lit, and a fun & bright Blair Turner paper to-do list. I love coming into work each day and am inspired by my co-workers, my colorful little area, and of course, YOU!
Here are some of the fantastic desks TpT’ers shared with us:

Ok, here’s the full picture of my desk and work area for @teacherspayteachers #CheckOutMyDesk post. This is called my “Summer is almost here, so I am throwing this behind me and will file it later” look. Unfortunately, I tend to use that excuse all year… #teacherproblems #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #teacherspayteachers #clutter #iteachhighschool

The great thing about having a tiny teacher desk (besides the fact that it takes up less room), is that it forces me to stay organized! Simple containers with supplies sorted, but my students “oooh” and “ahhh” when they look in my desk. Teaching organization! Leading by example 🙂 #teachersfollowteachers #classroomorganization #teacherdesk #seattleteachers #sunnysclassroom #CheckOutMyDesk @teacherspayteachers
